NCSU Music Department to host SoJam A Capella Festival This Weekend

The Price Music Center will be buzzing this weekend with A Capella enthusiasts from all over the nation coming together for the annual SoJam A Cappella Festival.

The event is one part intensive, one part competition, and another part celebration. Interactive A Capella workshops will be held throughout the weekend on the NCSU campus, covering everything from Yoga for Singers to Developing Group Sound That Elicits a Physical Reaction. On Friday, six A Capella groups will go head to head in several rounds of competition at the Raleigh Memorial Auditorium (Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts) for the chance to win a MasterClass, coveted performance slots, and much more. The Professional Showcase on Saturday night spotlights the accomplished groups Take 6 and Arora, the former being the most awarded vocal group in history and the latter fusing vocals and electronics.

A Capella is well represented at NC State, with four active student-run ensembles regularly performing around campus. Ladies in Red, Grains of Time, Wolfgang A Capella, and Acappology are continuously generating enthusiasm for A Capella locally among participants and audiences. Alongside taking part in workshops and performances, the groups will serve as hosts of SoJam.
