The Fall Choral Collage celebrates the bounty of choral music composed for mixed choir, soprano-alto and tenor-bass choirs, and features all three of NC State’s choral ensembles – State Chorale, Vox Accalia and the Singing Statesmen. Music will include mixed choir music of Asia and the South Pacific and a premier of a newly commissioned work for soprano-alto choir featuring arrangements of Appalachian folk songs.
The Raleigh Civic Chamber Orchestra will perform the world premiere of Donald Reid Womack’s Blue Ridge Seasons, a viola concerto inspired by the music of the southern mountains, with ETHEL’s Ralph Farris as soloist.
To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the death of artist Gustav Klimt, the Raleigh Civic Symphony explores music associated with Klimt’s Vienna. The concert will include the world premiere of a composition inspired by Klimt’s work by Japanese-American composer/cellist Paul Wiancko.
